SHOWING YOUR TRUE COLOURS

Do you believe in EARTH ANGELS ? Earth Angels are often people who cross your path for just a moment in time, but in that short moment they leave an imprint on your heart.

It was NEW YEARS EVE and I was going to celebrate with a friend at her home in one of my favourite places – Cronulla Beach. As I waited at the bus stop I thought about the year to come. Each year I knew the right calender would find me. And it did ! Tranquility was just what I needed in 2017. Such a lovely word tranquility...  it sounds so calming you can almost float on the energy it conveys of peace, quiteness, stillness…  After an emotionally  turblant year I was happy to see the back of 2016… yes tranquility felt good ~ it is my publishing name after all.

The insight I had gained of self was all the memory I wished to remember of 2016. Checking  to see if the bus was coming over the hill  I noticed an elderly lady making her way to the bus stop. Her cane followed the footpath closely, guiding her to her destination. We exchanged greeting as the lady settled beside me. Behind her sunglasses I noticed her left eye remained closed ~ damaged I wondered ? Once settled she asked me where I was heading. We chatted for a while and then she said “You need to show your true colours in  2017…” A little surprised I thanked her for her message. “Do you follow astrology?” I asked her. “No” she replied gently in a matter of fact way ” I just know things, I always have! I worked as a councilor and hynothripst for many years. I love being out and travel to the Blue Mountains regulary to spend time at a centre for young people with disabilities. We chatted until the bus arrived. ” I am not just a blind old lady ! “she told me as we parted. “My name is Jill. Remember to show your true colours .. ! ”

Peacock magic I knew was about showing you true self to the world. For years a peacock had visited my daughters horse paddock. One time when Mr Peacock ( as we named him) came to visit he had almost finished molting.  To my delight his last two beautiful  feathers dropped close to me before he walked away. It’s not always easy to show your true self especailly when you are processing deep pain. What I did manage to do in 2016 was say yes to a few invitations when I was still feeling emotinally depleted. That yes has carried me forward on a positive note into the New Year. peacockimg_3936My yes in 2016 enabled me to be able to share with you that I am a contributing author to #365LiftsShifts available on 22nd Feb 2017. This beautiful book shares moments that changed lives in a postive and powerful way.

May 2017 be filled with joy and may the year unfold with ease and grace.

DON’T FORGET TO SHOW YOUR TRUE BEAUTY TO THE WORLD

A BIRD NAMED PENGUIN BLOOM

At times the natural world invites us to connect deeply with a living creature who can support us on life’s journey ! Penguin the Magpie is such a creature.

The story of Penguin the Magpie captured my heart on Instagram immediately because of my love of birds and because the bird trible come to me when I was in need of healing.

This wonderful book tells a beautiful story about an injured baby magpie who fell out of its nest and was rescued by a loving family.”Penguin” the magpie survived to became an important part of the Bloom’s life and in turn rescued a family in need of hope. Initially  I followed Penguin’s story through the brilliant photos of Cameron Bloom on Instagram. Like so many I loved seeing Penguin with the family. When this wonderful story became a book I knew immediately I had to buy a copy. It was a privilege to read such a wonderfully written, heartfelt story,  with images that dance instantly into the heart and mind.

The natural world is a wonderful teacher if we take the time to listen. When I was in depair and struggling to write my book Triumph of Joy, a Pelican came to me as I stood high on a cliff face overlooking the ocean. The Pelican circled above me time and time again. Each time the Pelican circled closer to me I clapped in delight ! On this final flight I thanked Pelican for the joy and majesty of his flight. So close was he on his final flight, I could have touched him. It was then the Pelican looked me directly in the eye. In that precious moment the Pelican and I were one. Enchanted by our connection I knew instantly the Pelican was to be the totem for my healing journey. Pelican is seen to represent ~ Rising above life’s trials. It is not the trial in life that is significant; but how we rise above that trial that really matters.

Each time I was ready to give up writing or felt weighted down with self doubt, a Pelican would appear regardless of where I was at the time. The cover of my book is in honour of my beautiful friend who supported me on my healing journey.

I encouage you to read Penguin Bloom a forever story of family love, hope and joy.

Supporting one another

Have you felt at times that you were standing alone; like a single tree alone in a paddock?  I felt that way also, partly because I was very independent and enjoyed doing things myself. However the time came when my mind , body and spirit were so deleted I not longer had the capacity to stand alone, and needed to stand amongst like minded others.  photo (6)

Since that challenging time I have learnt to reach out for support and nourishment from those around me . I doing so I have come to understand the power of standing together, and now enjoy being encircled within a supportive network . Nature has allowed us to bare witness to the benefit that supporting those around you offers.  Recent research has revealed that in a forest, the trees provide a underground support network of roots and fungi that share carbon, water and nutrients with other trees and that rather than survival of the fitness, trees help and support other trees to survive.  Larger trees can communicate and help smaller trees. So much so that a dying tree will transfere its nutrients to other trees, until it falls.
