Do you have a poet or visionary whose words inspires and uplift you ?
May you recognise in your life the presence, power, and light of your soul.
May you realise that you are never alone,
that your soul in its brightness and belonging connects you intimately with the rhythm of the universe.
May you have respect for you own individuality and difference.
May you realize that the shape of your soul is unique, that
you have a special destiny here,
that behind the facade of your life there is something
beautiful, good, and eternal happening.
May you learn to see yourself with the same delight, pride,
and expectation with which God sees you in every moment.~ John O’ Donohue
Healing though words may come about by both writing and reading. Often the words of another can give us insight into our hearts longing, while writing freely can release us from the prison of our mind. Sometimes the words we write ourselves can surprise us and open up a new dialogue within our mind.Seeing our personal truth in words can free us to tread a path we may have otherwise feared to tread.
Writing Triumph of Joy opened my heart and soul to healing in a way I could not have imagined. Writing gave me the courage to face even the most fearful aspects of my past and introduced me to a magical world of infinite possibilities that await an open heart.
How will you paint your day? With love, joy and gratitude ?
Regardless if it’s rain, hail or shine each day is a blank canvas upon which you paint your day. Your attitude guides the stroke of your brush and the colour and experience you bring to your day. May your day be filled with joy, love and gratitude.
How many times have you heard the words “Don’t give up on your Dreams!”Sometimes those words resonate and inspire you, yet at other times they feel hollow and unattainable. Initially the energy and intent to achieve your dreams, even without obvious results, comes easily and naturally. You continue day after day, often for long periods of time maintaining your belief and enthusiasm. Then one day you experience a lull in energy and enthusiasm. It becomes a challenge to inspire yourself to continue, especially if you are working for yourself. Sometimes in these empty moments a spark remains to warm your dream, yet at other times maybe due to circumstances out of your control, this dream becomes no more than a dull ache in your heart.
During a time of when the spark was fading on my dreams, something special occurred.
A blue triangle Butterfly landed on my arm as I stood overlooking Fig-Tree Bay near my home. Excited to be visited by one of nature’s creatures I focused on the butterfly’s silent beauty. To my delight the Blue Triangle butterfly stayed on my arm when I returned home. As I focused on my visitor I realized it was the same butterfly on the cover of my first book Triumph of Joy. To my delight the butterfly continued to sit on my arm for several hours as I worked on my computer. While the butterfly sat silent and unmoving I felt a stirring within, an excitement I had not experienced for quite a while ~ I wanted to write again!
My heart sang as and I offered up gratitude to the beautiful butterfly.
A few months after the traumatic death of my husband, an inner voice spoke to me of writing my story. Mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted I dismissed the voice immediately. Years of sleep deprivation had left my brain scrabbled. Words deserted me when I tried to speak. How was I to write a book and why? My mind was a vacuum as I struggled to remember even close friends names. Sentences would dance tantalisingly before me, yet when I spoke my words tumbled out like children’s blocks scattered all over the floor.
Still the inner voice continued to invite me to write my story. Frustrated I asked “Why should I write my story ? I am not famous or an intellectual, I am just an ordinary person! “The answer I received surprised me ~ It is your very ordinariness that can help others. Hum ~ I had no reply to that answer. Finally I did begin.
Like heavy raindrops words appeared, one by one, drop by drop. Each raindrop was a fractured tear shattering around me but nobody hears… ( prologue Triumph of Joy )
Painful memories had to be relived. Day after day I remained at the computer as tears of pain tore away at the wall I had built around my heart. Those raze-blade tears began to expose the truth. Nights were filled with endless nightmares as suppressed pain broke though. Numerous times I was ready to give up. Yet I did not ! After publication of my book I came to understand that by exposing my pain and finding the courage to share my story many readers felt free to touch on their own pain. In the words of one reader : Ifound the courage to open thecurtain on my own pain.
When we find the courage to touch on our deepest, darkest pain, we set ourselves free to be who we are ! Just as a locus flower grows out of murky water, we have the power to rise above a dark past. In doing so we allow our spirit to share its natural beauty with the world. To buy my book go to~ http://triumphofjoy.com
Once we begin to follow our heart’s wisdom, we come to understand that the power of love gives meaning to our life. As we struggle with pain and trauma our world shrinks to accommodate that pain as we withdraw into ourselves. The veils between our heart and soul then begin to shadow the beauty and wonder of everyday life. The magic and mystery is still there as we view our life from the shadows, yet our pain prevents us from feeling the warmth of love’s embrace.
When we are able to make peace with what troubles us, those veils begin to lift to once again. At times just a simple thing like a stranger’s smile, an unexpected message or phone call can shift our focus and help us seek a way of feeling better. When we find a space to feel better in our heart opens more and more to the endless ocean of love that is in us and surrounds us.
Recently I began a series of eBooks . Love’s Reflection is the second mini book in that series. This post is a sample from Loves Reflection. If you wish to read more click on the link
Does the Natural World help you to source your inner joy?
Recently a friend of mind had a visit from a Rainbow Lorikeet who did exactly that ~ enabled her to reconnect with her inner joy. My friend rang me and explained excitedly that her heart had been weighed down with concern for the day ahead when a single Lorikeet landed close by and sang to her. As she watch the bight and beautiful bird she felt her spirit lighten. Touched and grateful for the visit of the joyful lorikeet she felt much happier about the day ahead. The Rainbow Lorikeet is a lively, social, fun loving bird that bring colour and joy into our lives. These fast moving, nectar loving birds have adapted to change by sourcing food in areas such as backyards where flowering plants and trees provide the food they enjoy. Rainbow Lorikeets nest in hollows in trees, such hollows enable new life to burst forth.
At a time in my life when my spirit was broken, it was the creatures of this world, especially birds who filled those empty hollows in my soul.
Learning to make peace with our past and coming to terms with trauma can leave you feeling broken. When I felt lost and alone, I spent time in the Blue Mountains sitting for hours, filling the empty spaces in my soul with the joy and aliveness that birds bring to our world. The freedom that birds inspire can help us to lighten our spirit. To read my story of reconnecting to Inner Joy through the Natural World click on Triumph of Joy
